Britannia Industries Appoints Rakshit Hargave as New CEO for 2025
Rakshit Hargave will become CEO of Britannia Industries from December 2025, following his role at Birla Opus within the Aditya Birla Group.

In a significant move, Britannia Industries has announced the appointment of Rakshit Hargave as its new Chief Executive Officer. His term will commence on 15 December 2025, following the approval of shareholders. Hargave is currently the CEO of Birla Opus, a subsidiary of the Aditya Birla Group that focuses on the paints segment.

Hargave's leadership experience includes overseeing the establishment of six integrated manufacturing facilities and a national distribution network during his tenure at Birla Opus, which he joined in November 2021. His previous roles span several well-known companies, including Beiersdorf, Hindustan Unilever, and Kimberly-Clark, where he contributed significantly to various product launches and operational strategies.

The board of Britannia Industries indicated that Hargave's appointment is part of a broader strategy to enhance leadership within the company. This comes at a time when the Indian fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector is experiencing heightened competition and changing market dynamics. Industry analysts suggest that Britannia's decision to bring in Hargave is aimed at achieving sustained growth and operational excellence, particularly as the company looks to expand beyond its well-established biscuit business.

"Subject to shareholders’ approval, Mr Hargave’s appointment will align with our five-year strategic agenda," the company stated in its regulatory filing. Further details regarding the terms of his role are expected to be finalised in due course.

As Hargave prepares to transition to his new role, a successor for his current position at Birla Opus has yet to be announced. In the interim, Himanshu Kapania, the Managing Director of Birla Opus, will oversee the paints division. This leadership change at Britannia follows the recent departure of its previous CEO, leaving the managing director to temporarily assume the responsibilities of the role until Hargave's arrival.

Britannia Industries, one of India's leading players in the FMCG sector, is known for its diverse portfolio that includes biscuits, dairy products, and snacks. As the company moves forward, it aims to capitalise on emerging trends and shifting consumer preferences within the food sector.
