Box Office Update: 'De De Pyaar De 2' Earnings Slow Amid Competition
The film 'De De Pyaar De 2', featuring Ajay Devgn, R Madhavan, and Rakul Preet Singh, continues to perform steadily at the box office, having completed two weeks since its release. This sequel to the 2019 film has garnered a total of approximately Rs 67.60 crore domestically by the end of its second week.
During its initial week, the film opened with earnings of around Rs 8.75 crore. Its performance showed an upward trend over the weekend, but industry analysts anticipated a more significant increase driven by positive audience feedback. However, it appears that the film may struggle to reach the Rs 100 crore milestone in India, which is considered disappointing for a sequel to a well-known romantic comedy franchise.
In its first week, 'De De Pyaar De 2' accumulated Rs 51.1 crore. As it entered its second weekend, the film's earnings were Rs 2.25 crore on Friday, followed by Rs 4 crore on Saturday and Rs 4.50 crore on Sunday. These figures allowed the sequel to outperform the opening weekend earnings of competing films '120 Bahadur' and 'Masti 4'.
However, as is common with box office trends, the film saw a decline in revenue on Monday, earning Rs 1.50 crore. The following days reflected a similar pattern, with Tuesday bringing in Rs 1.75 crore and Wednesday seeing a dip to Rs 1.25 crore. On Thursday, the earnings remained at Rs 1.25 crore, bringing the cumulative total to Rs 67.60 crore.
The release of 'Tere Ishk Mein' on Friday, featuring actors Dhanush and Kriti Sanon, is anticipated to further impact 'De De Pyaar De 2's performance. Advance bookings for 'Tere Ishk Mein' appear strong, suggesting that the competition could lead to a further decline in box office numbers for the existing films, including 'De De Pyaar De 2', '120 Bahadur', and 'Masti 4'.
As the box office landscape evolves with new releases, the fate of 'De De Pyaar De 2' remains uncertain, and industry watchers will be keen to see how it performs in the coming weeks.
