BJP Leadership Shuffle: Nitin Nabin Leads First Meeting
Nitin Nabin conducts his inaugural meeting with BJP's new leadership team, focusing on electoral strategies and grassroots initiatives.

The newly appointed president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Nitin Nabin, convened his first meeting with the party's revamped national team on Saturday. The meeting is believed to be a strategic move aimed at formulating plans for upcoming state assembly elections, enhancing grassroots mobilisation, and effectively communicating government initiatives to the public.

This strategic session, as reported by party sources, marks a significant moment for the BJP following its recent organisational reshuffle. The reshuffle saw the introduction of 65 new office-bearers, with 51 of them being fresh faces. This includes 13 appointed as national vice presidents, among them notable political figures such as former Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Vasundhara Raje Scindia, and former Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leader, Ram Madhav.

Noteworthy appointments within the new team include Smriti Irani, who will serve as one of the eight national general secretaries. B L Santhosh has retained his position as national general secretary (organisation), while other significant appointments include Vinod Tawde and Sunil Bansal as general secretaries. Piyush Goyal has returned as national treasurer, a position he held before his ministerial role in the first Narendra Modi government, which began in May 2014.

The new team is distinguished by its inclusivity, with 12 women and six leaders representing minority communities. Additionally, the BJP has replaced Amit Malviya in its IT department, appointing Deepak Mhaskey from Chhattisgarh in his stead. Hemang Joshi from Gujarat is appointed as the new president of the party's youth wing, taking over from current Lok Sabha MP Tejasvi Surya.

This significant organisational shift comes more than a decade after the last major restructuring in 2015, which occurred under the leadership of then-party president Amit Shah. The recent changes have sparked speculation regarding a potential Cabinet reshuffle, although no official announcements have been made yet.

The BJP is reportedly planning further meetings involving state presidents, in-charges, and chief ministers of BJP-led states later in the day. These discussions are intended to further refine strategies aimed at electoral success and public outreach leading up to the upcoming election cycle.
