Baba Vanga's 2027 Prediction Sparks Interest in Gold Prices
Concerns over a global cash crisis coincide with rising gold prices; predictions suggest significant increases ahead for investors.

Gold prices are currently near historic highs, but an unusual prediction for 2027 has gained traction online. Claims attributed to the Bulgarian mystic Baba Vanga suggest a potential surge in gold values. This comes amid forecasts from financial institutions indicating a rise in gold prices.

Gold prices have remained elevated both in India and internationally, attracting attention from investors and jewellery buyers alike. Alongside these market projections, an unconventional prediction has resurfaced: posts circulating online claim that Baba Vanga foresaw a significant increase in gold prices by 2027.

According to various accounts online, a global financial crisis or a severe cash shortage could lead to decreased confidence in conventional banking systems, prompting investors to gravitate towards gold. The predictions suggest gold prices may rise by 25 to 40 per cent due to such a crisis. However, it is important to note that there is no verified documentation confirming that Baba Vanga made these specific predictions. Her alleged prophecies lack a known written record, and many claims about her have emerged from second-hand accounts.

Reports indicate that gold prices in India could potentially reach between ₹2.62 lakh and ₹2.82 lakh per 10 grams (approximately $2,733 to $2,942 per 10 grams) by 2027, while another projection estimates the price could be around ₹2.1 lakh per 10 grams. These figures are associated with the purported predictions by the mystic and should be viewed as speculative, not as formal market forecasts.

In contrast, major financial institutions are making independent projections regarding gold prices for 2027. J.P. Morgan Global Research anticipates that gold might average about $2,116.44 per 10 grams (or $6,000 per ounce) in the last quarter of 2026, potentially rising to $2,222 per 10 grams (or $6,300 per ounce) by the end of 2027. J.P. Morgan cites factors such as geopolitical uncertainty, fiscal issues, inflation risks, and demand from central banks and investors for this outlook, although they note that their predictions are subject to changes in Federal Reserve policy.

UBS has projected gold could rise to about $1,763.70 per 10 grams (or $5,000 per ounce) in the first half of 2027. Deutsche Bank maintains a target of $1,622.60 per 10 grams (or $4,600 per ounce) for the fourth quarter of 2026, suggesting that the recent correction in gold prices might have run its course. In the domestic market as of September 30, reported rates for 24-carat gold were around ₹1.46 lakh to ₹1.50 lakh per 10 grams.

Baba Vanga, born Vangeliya Pandeva Dimitrova in 1911, became renowned as a clairvoyant and herbalist, despite losing her sight at age 12 due to a tornado. Her followers allege she predicted significant global events, including the September 11 attacks and Brexit. Supporters claim that around 85 per cent of her predictions have been fulfilled; however, this figure has not been independently corroborated. Given the absence of a written record of her prophecies, it is challenging to verify the authenticity of many predictions attributed to her.
