Ansarullah Forces Advance on Taiz, Yemen Amid Ongoing Clashes
Ansarullah fighters are gaining ground in Taiz, cutting off crucial routes as clashes continue in Yemen's ongoing conflict.

Recent reports indicate that Ansarullah fighters have made significant advances in Taiz, Yemen, by taking control of the main road connecting the capital, Sana'a, to the city. This development effectively disrupts the logistical supply line for Saudi-backed forces, bringing Taiz closer to potential capture by pro-government military factions.

Since Wednesday, Yemeni army and Ansarullah forces have initiated operations across various locations within Taiz province, particularly in the city and the surrounding areas. Clashes have been most intense in eastern Taiz and at Al-Turbah, which serves as the administrative centre of the Ash Shamayatayn district in the southern part of the province.

Taiz is currently divided among several factions, each backed by different government entities. According to a report from the BBC, as of September 20, the northern and eastern segments of Taiz were predominantly under the control of the Sana'a government, while the city centre remained in the hands of Saudi-aligned forces. Recent military activities have seen the Yemeni army and Ansarullah forces intensifying their assaults and making advances in western and southwestern Taiz as well.

The southern precinct of Taiz, along with its route leading towards Aden, is under the control of forces allied with Riyadh. However, these areas have reportedly been subjected to fire control by Sana'a-aligned troops, raising concerns about the potential for further conflict.

Military analysts suggest that the dual efforts of the Yemeni army and Ansarullah to consolidate their positions may change the dynamics of warfare in the region significantly. The ongoing clashes come amidst a backdrop of increasing military operations aimed at capturing strategically vital areas of Yemen, and it remains to be seen how this will affect the overall stability of the country.
