Aiman Anwer Retires from International Cricket After Six Years

The Pakistan Cricket Board confirmed on Wednesday, 26 August, that fast bowler Aiman Anwer has retired from international cricket with immediate effect. Anwer, who made her debut for the Pakistan Women's team in 2016, played 37 Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) and eight One Day Internationals (ODIs). Notably, she became the 37th player to represent the team in T20Is during her career.

Anwer's last match for the national team was during the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 held in South Africa. Her international career began with a T20I against England, marking the start of a journey that has seen her contribute significantly to the team.

The 34-year-old leaves the sport with 29 wickets from T20Is and four in the ODI format. Throughout her career, she participated in three ICC Women’s T20 World Cups—in 2018, 2020, and 2023—and the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup in 2022, hosted in New Zealand.

Her final ODI appearance came in a match against England, while her last T20I was against the West Indies during the group stage of the T20 World Cup in 2023. Anwer’s retirement marks the end of a significant chapter for Pakistan Women’s cricket, as she has been an integral part of the team for several years. The cricketing community now reflects on her contributions and achievements as she moves on from international competition.
