Tata Harrier EV launched with AWD, 622 km range.
Tata Motors launches the Harrier EV Stealth Edition in India, offering up to 622 km range, all-wheel drive, and premium features. Prices start at Rs 28.24 lakh.
Indian automaker Tata Motors has announced the launch of the Harrier EV Stealth Edition, expanding its electric vehicle portfolio with a variant that offers a distinctive appearance and a high-capacity battery.
The new version of the electric SUV is priced from Rs 28.24 lakh ex-showroom for the entry-level trim, known as the Empowered 75 Stealth. Higher variants, including models with all-wheel drive capability, cost up to Rs 30.23 lakh.
According to Tata Motors, the Stealth Edition is equipped with a 75 kilowatt-hour battery pack. Customers can choose between two drivetrain configurations. The rear-wheel drive option produces 235 brake horsepower and 315 Newton metres of torque. The more powerful all-wheel drive variant generates 391 brake horsepower and 504 Newton metres of torque by using dual electric motors.
The company claims that, based on the Modified Indian Driving Cycle (MIDC), the rear-wheel drive model can travel up to 627 kilometres on a full charge, while the all-wheel drive version offers a range of 622 kilometres.
In addition to the performance figures, the Harrier EV Stealth Edition stands out for its Matte Stealth Black paint finish and redesigned 19-inch alloy wheels with Piano Black inserts. The cabin features Carbon Noir leatherette upholstery, maintaining the same layout and equipment as the standard Harrier EV.
The SUV is offered in four trims: Empowered 75 Stealth, Empowered 75 Stealth ACFC, Empowered 75 QWD Stealth, and Empowered 75 QWD Stealth ACFC. The ACFC variants provide additional charging capabilities.
For charging, Tata Motors says the Harrier EV supports 120 kilowatt DC fast charging, which can add approximately 250 kilometres of driving range in 15 minutes. A full top-up between 20 and 80 percent can be completed in about 25 minutes. Customers can also use slower AC chargers at home, with options including 3.3 kilowatt and 7.2 kilowatt units.
Among the features are an air purifier, dual-zone climate control, a wireless phone charger, an electronically operated tailgate, autonomous parking assistance, and Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems offering over 20 functions. Safety equipment includes seven airbags and a surround-view camera system that provides a clear perspective around and beneath the vehicle, which Tata says is especially useful in off-road conditions.
Speaking about the new model, Tata Motors emphasised its intention to strengthen its position in India’s growing electric vehicle market. The manufacturer recently achieved a five-star safety rating in the Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (BNCAP), underlining its focus on both innovation and occupant protection.
Context
India’s electric vehicle sector has expanded rapidly as the government promotes cleaner transportation and domestic manufacturers invest in battery and charging infrastructure. Tata Motors has been among the leading companies in this segment, offering electric models such as the Nexon EV and Tiago EV alongside the Harrier.
The launch of the Stealth Edition follows a trend of manufacturers introducing special editions to appeal to buyers seeking distinctive design and technology packages.
While most electric vehicles in India target the compact segment, premium models like the Harrier EV reflect increasing demand for long-range electric SUVs with advanced features.
Industry analysts note that the Harrier EV’s combination of high capacity batteries, rapid charging, and multiple drive modes positions it as one of the most capable electric SUVs currently available in the Indian market.
