'Partnership for global good': PM Modi after meeting US NSA Sullivan

US NSA Sullivan briefs Prime Minister on progress in various areas of bilateral cooperation
India is committed to further strengthening the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership for global good, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said after meeting US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan in New Delhi on Monday (June 17, 2024).

"Met US National Security Advisor @JakeSullivan46. India is committed to further strengthen the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership for global good," Prime Minister Modi posted on X, formerly Twitter, after NSA Sullivan called on him.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), NSA Sullivan briefed Prime Minister Modi on the progress in various areas of bilateral cooperation, particularly under the Initiative on Critical and Emerging Technologies (iCET) such as semiconductors, Artificial Intelligence, telecom, defence, critical minerals, space, among others 

"PM expressed satisfaction at the speed and scale of the growing bilateral partnership in all areas and the convergence of views on regional and global issues of mutual interest," the PMO added.

During the discussions, Prime Minister Modi recalled his recent positive interaction with President Biden at the G7 Summit. PM Modi reaffirmed commitment to continue to strengthen Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership for the global good and take it to greater heights in the new term, the PMO stated.

NSA Sullivan also had a meeting with External Affairs Minister (EAM) Jaishankar; they discussed a wide range of bilateral as well as regional and global issues.

"Delighted to welcome US NSA @JakeSullivan46 in New Delhi today morning.  A comprehensive discussion on a broad range of bilateral, regional and global issues. 

Confident that India-US strategic partnership will continue to advance strongly in our new term," EAM Jaishankar posted on X.

Shared India-US Priorities 

The US NSA's India visit was discussed during US President Biden's congratulatory call to Prime Minister Modi on June 5, 2024, following the National Democratic Alliance's (NDA) victory in the recent general elections.
 
The White House readout of the call said that President Biden and Prime Minister Modi emphasised the visit's significance in engaging the new Indian government on shared US-India priorities. These priorities include deepening the trusted and strategic technology partnership between the two nations.
 
"The two leaders also discussed National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan’s upcoming travel to New Delhi to engage the new government on shared US-India priorities, including the trusted, strategic technology partnership," stated the White House readout.
 
President Biden and Prime Minister Modi reiterated their commitment to strengthening the US-India Comprehensive and Global Strategic Partnership and to advancing their shared vision of a free, open, and prosperous Indo-Pacific region, the White House added.
