With Exercise Dustlik 2024, India & Uzbekistan further strengthen military cooperation
Exercise Dustlik 2024, held at Uzbekistan’s Termez Training Base, saw joint operations by Indian Army and Uzbekistan Armed Force
The aim of the exercise is to foster military cooperation and enhance combined capabilities to execute joint operations
The 5th edition of the joint India-Uzbekistan military drill, Exercise Dustlik, came to an end at the Termez Training Base in Uzbekistan after an intense validation training on April 26, marking another chapter in the close military cooperation between the two nations.
 
Exercise Dustlik is a yearly event conducted alternatively in India and Uzbekistan. The previous edition was conducted at Pithoragarh, India in February 2023. The aim of the exercise is to foster military cooperation and enhance combined capabilities to execute joint operations in mountainous as well as semi urban terrain. It would focus on high degree of physical fitness, joint planning, joint tactical drills and basics of special arms skills.
 
"Exercise #Dustlik 2024 The Joint Military Exercise between #IndianArmy and #Uzbekistan Armed Forces culminated at #Termez Training Base, after an intense validation training. The exercise has been successful in enhancing interoperability & sharing best practices between the Armies," the Additional Directorate General of Public Information (ADGPI) of the Indian Army posted on social media platform X, formerly Twitter.
 
The Indian Armed Forces contingent comprised 45 personnel from the Indian Army, majorly from a Battalion of the Jat Regiment, and 15 personnel from the Indian Air Force. Two women officers also formed part of the Indian Army contingent, including one from the Regiment of Artillery and the second from the Army Medical Corps.
 
The Uzbekistan contingent comprised approximately 100 personnel from the Uzbekistan Army and Air Force and was represented by personnel from Southern Operational Command, part of South-West Military District.
 
During the validation training, held at the Termez Training Base, soldiers from both nations engaged in combat simulations, tactical manoeuvres, and strategic coordination.
 
“The exchange of battle-tested techniques and operational insights has further fortified our collective readiness to tackle regional security challenges. The camaraderie forged on the training grounds will enhance ability to work seamlessly together during joint operations & carry forward the spirit of cooperation and shared expertise,” the South Western Command of the Indian Army posted on X.
 
India’s Chief of Army Staff General Manoj Pande visited the Termez Training Base while he was in Uzbekistan on April 18, 2024. He interacted with the participating contingents & highlighted the importance of enhancing interoperability & camaraderie through such Joint Exercises.
According to the Indian Army, the exercise has been successful in enhancing interoperability and sharing of best practices between the two armies.
 
As part of the exercise, the Indian Army and Uzbekistan Armed Forces contingents also participated in a Yoga session for fitness and health.
