India & Denmark to explore partnership in defence and security, new technology
A joint logo was unveiled to mark 75 years of diplomatic ties between India and the Kingdom of Denmark, in New Delhi .
A mobility and migration partnership agreement has been signed between India and Denmark
Meeting on the sidelines of Raisina Dialogue 2024 in New Delhi on Thursday (February 22, 2024), India's External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Denmark's Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen discussed ways to expand the Indo-Danish partnership to cover new areas.
 
According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), both Ministers further agreed to work towards expanding the Indo-Danish partnership into new areas, including defence, security and new technology. They also decided to explore the possibilities of a Danish contribution to the Indo-Pacific Oceans Initiative. They agreed to work towards an enhanced strategic perspective for a Comprehensive Green Strategic Partnership once the existing Joint Action Plan ends in 2026.
 
They also noted the significant outcomes under the umbrella of the Indo-Danish Green Strategic Partnership, according to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
 
Additionally, they agreed to finalise a mid-term review of the Green Strategic Partnership at the earliest in 2024, to conclude in an updated India-Denmark Joint Action Plan (2021-26), and to hold the next round of the India-Denmark Joint Commission at the earliest possible convenience.
 
During the meeting, the two ministers welcomed the establishment of a new Centre of Excellence on Smart Water Resource Modelling and the signing of a joint declaration of intent between CDSCO and DKMA on cooperation in the field of medical products regulation.
 
The Ministers signed a mobility and migration partnership agreement between India and Denmark. They also decided to explore the possibilities of establishing a partnership on recruitment of Indian health care professionals for employment in Denmark.
 
2024 marks 75 years of diplomatic ties between India and the Kingdom of Denmark. To mark the occasion, both ministers unveiled a joint logo.
 
Foreign Minister Rasmussen, along with an official delegation, is visiting India from 21-22 February 2024. He is participating in the 9th edition of Raisina Dialogue.
 
India-Denmark relations have grown in depth and breadth in the last few years. Prime Minister Modi paid an official visit to Denmark in May 2022. Danish Prime Minister Frederiksen visited India in 2021. The Indo-Danish Green Strategic Partnership has catalysed enhanced cooperation between the two countries.
