The top Brazilian military officer has held discussions with India's Chief of Army Staff General Manoj Pande, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, and Defence Secretary Giridhar Aramane. As part of the itinerary, General Tomas Miguel Mine Ribeiro Paiva is slated to witness manoeuvre and firing of various weapon platforms at the Pokaran Field Firing Ranges. The firing will demonstrate the capabilities of weapon systems possessed by the Indian Army including indigenous weapon systems, the Ministry of Defence said.
The Brazilian Army Commander's six-day visit to India from August 28 to September 2, 2023 commenced with a wreath-laying ceremony at the National War Memorial on August 29, where he paid homage to the fallen heroes of the Indian Armed Forces who have made the supreme sacrifice for the nation. Thereafter, a ceremonial Guard of Honour was presented to General Tomas at the South Block Lawns in New Delhi after which he called on General Pande.
