Better infrastructure & connectivity had given Jammu & Kashmir tourism a boost, PM Modi said

While addressing the Jammu & Kashmir Rozgar Mela via video conferencing on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi discussed the significance of this decade of the twenty-first century in the history of Jammu & Kashmir and urged citizens to leave the past challenges behind and take full advantage of the new possibilities that are coming in their state.

"Now is the time to leave the old challenges behind, and take full advantage of the new possibilities. I am happy that the youth of Jammu & Kashmir are coming forward in large numbers for the development of their region and the people," he said.

He stressed that the future of development in Jammu and Kashmir would be written by the young people, making the Rozgar Mela's organisation in the Union Territory particularly significant.

Speaking to the gathering, Prime Minister Modi declared it to be a significant day and congratulated the 3,000 young people who had been given appointment letters to work for the government at 20 different locations around the state.

He commented on the ongoing progress made in Jammu and Kashmir through a new, transparent, and sensitive government, saying, "For fast pace of development, we have to work with a new approach, with new thinking."

Furthermore, PM Modi mentioned the significance of the "Rozgar Mela," which will is being held in various regions of the nation starting on October 22, as an example of the actions the central government has taken over the past eight years to encourage employment and self-employment.

"The pace at which work is being done on development-related projects will transform the entire economy here," he added.

The Prime Minister discussed the unprecedented rise in visitors that Jammu and Kashmir saw and said that infrastructure improvements and better connectivity gave the tourism industry in the Union Territory "a boost."

"It is our endeavour that the benefits of government schemes reach every section of society without any discrimination," he said.

Speaking about how the people of Jammu and Kashmir have always valued and emphasised transparency, the prime minister asked the young people entering government jobs to give it a top priority.

He also commended Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and his team for their outstanding efforts in eradicating corruption in the state.

In his closing remarks, the Prime Minister expressed confidence that the young people who are receiving appointment letters today will fulfill their duties with complete commitment and determination.

He concluded by saying, "Jammu & Kashmir is the pride of every Indian. Together we have to take Jammu & Kashmir to new heights. We also have a huge goal of a developed India of 2047 and to fulfil it we have to engage in nation-building with strong determination."
