Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Impresses with 63 Runs in DY Patil T20 Match
In a striking performance, 14-year-old cricketer Vaibhav Sooryavanshi scored 63 runs off just 19 balls while representing DY Patil Blue in the ongoing DY Patil T20 Cup. His blistering innings featured seven fours and five sixes, recorded at an extraordinary strike rate of 331.58. Sooryavanshi reached his fifty in only 14 deliveries during the match against the Indian Navy.
Other contributions from the DY Patil Blue team included Yash Dhull, who scored 12 runs off eight balls, and skipper Shashank Singh, who added 20 runs in 12 deliveries. Anand Bais remained unbeaten with a score of 35 runs off 24 balls, while Arjun Tendulkar contributed an impressive 55 runs not out off 29 balls.
On the opposing side, Kuwar Pathak from the Indian Navy put forth an admirable effort by scoring 87 runs off 53 balls, while Nitin Tanwar supported the innings by smashing 57 runs off 31 balls.
Sooryavanshi's remarkable form comes on the back of his recent performances, including a record-breaking 175 runs in the U19 World Cup final, where India emerged victorious under captain Ayush Mhatre. As a result of his outstanding display, he was awarded a prize of Rs 50 lakh by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, along with a Tata Curvv car.
Earlier, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi received the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar (PMRBP) from President Droupadi Murmu, who encouraged the young achievers by stating, "Your achievements inspire the entire country. Every child honoured today is equally important and valued." The award highlighted Sooryavanshi’s status as one of India's most promising young talents in cricket, showcasing the country's dedication to nurturing its youth in sports.
