Mumtaz Remembers Dharmendra in Heartfelt Tribute Following His Death
The Indian film industry is in mourning following the death of celebrated actor Dharmendra, who passed away on 24 November at the age of 89. Among those paying their respects is veteran actress Mumtaz, who took to social media to share fond memories of their collaboration in the 1973 film Loafer.
In her tribute, Mumtaz posted several stills from the film, expressing her admiration and love for Dharmendra. She wrote, "Dharam Ji, you were and you are always with us! May you rest in peace." The heartfelt message reflects the deep respect and affection she held for the late star.
Dharmendra and Mumtaz, both icons of Hindi cinema, worked together in several films during the 1960s and 1970s. Their notable collaborations include the romantic thriller Mere Humdam Mere Dost (1968), the acclaimed drama Aadmi Aur Insaan (1969), and the film Kaajal (1965). Their partnership continued with the movies Jheel Ke Us Paar and Loafer, with the latter becoming particularly memorable among fans.
Although their appearances together were limited, the chemistry they shared on screen resonated with audiences, leading many to wish they had collaborated more frequently.

Dharmendra had been experiencing health issues prior to his death. He was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai due to breathlessness and was discharged on 12 November to recover at home. His passing comes just weeks before he would have celebrated his 90th birthday on 8 December.
The actor is survived by his first wife, Prakash Kaur, and their four children, including actors Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol. He is also survived by his second wife, actress Hema Malini, and their daughters Esha Deol and Ahana Deol.

Following his death, several prominent figures from Bollywood paid their respects to Dharmendra at the Deol family residence in Mumbai on 25 November.
