Dhurandhar 2 Premiere Delays Lead to Apologies from Aditya Dhar
Aditya Dhar, the director of the upcoming film Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge, has issued an apology following significant delays and cancellations affecting its premiere screenings. Fans were eager to see the film debut on March 18, 2026, but complications surrounding the availability of regional language prints have led to numerous cancellations, particularly in regions such as Telangana and Tamil Nadu.
Reports indicate that the last-minute logistical issues primarily impact the dubbed versions in Kannada and Malayalam, as well as international screenings. The Hindi version, however, appears to be unaffected and will proceed as scheduled. The failure to deliver the necessary language files has frustrated many fans who were anticipating their local screenings.
A multiplex in Tamil Nadu confirmed the cancellations through their social media account, stating, “We regret to inform that the Tamil paid previews of Dhurandhar: The Revenge scheduled for today have been cancelled. Refunds will be initiated shortly. Thank you for your patience.” This sentiment has resonated with fans across Maharashtra as well, where multiple shows have also been scrapped due to similar issues.
The film, featuring prominent actors such as Ranveer Singh, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, and Sanjay Dutt, was expected to set a new standard within the Indian cinema landscape, but the recent complications threaten its momentum right at the start of its release. Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge is lauded for its high expectations in the realm of Indian cinema, being branded as an action-packed spy thriller.
In addition to cancellation woes, the film had garnered a lot of attention during its pre-release phase, including its advance sales which crossed ₹100 crore. It was recently noted that the film received an ‘A’ certification from the Central Board of Film Certification, along with 21 modifications before its release. These alterations involved the editing of violent scenes and some language adjustments based on recommendations by the board.
Dhurandhar 2 is produced by Jio Studios in partnership with B62 Studios, with a release scheduled in five different languages: Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada. Despite the current cancellation issues, the initial reception and advance ticket sales have provided some optimism for the film’s future performance at the box office.
The ongoing issues have stirred substantial discourse online, as industry insiders and critics weigh in on the impact of such delays on the broader release strategy of high-profile films in the Indian market. Aditya Dhar’s statement of apology underscores the need for better logistical coordination, especially for major releases anticipated by both fans and the film industry.
