Awarapan 2 Surpasses Rs 150 Crore at Global Box Office
Awarapan 2, featuring Emraan Hashmi and Disha Patani, has experienced a significant box office success, surpassing the Rs 150 crore mark internationally after six days in cinemas. The film achieved a milestone of Rs 104.68 crore in net collections within India by the end of Day 6.
The latest box office figures reveal that Awarapan 2 collected Rs 3.93 crore in India on Wednesday, marking a decrease from Rs 9.75 crore on the previous day. With around 9,742 shows running, the film has maintained a 15% occupancy rate, indicating an ongoing interest among audiences. The total gross in India stands at approximately Rs 124.96 crore.
In contrast, Sunny Deol's Batwara 1947 has had a challenging run at the box office. According to reports, the film saw a decline in collections, garnering only Rs 0.83 crore on Day 6. This brings its total net collection to Rs 31.58 crore, with a gross figure of Rs 37.51 crore. Batwara 1947 is currently screening in 5,789 shows across India and has recorded an occupancy rate of about 8%.
The performances of both films have drawn comparisons, with Awarapan 2 clearly leading in financial success. As noted by Sacnilk, continuing trends reveal that while both films have seen a slowdown following the Independence Day weekend, Awarapan 2 has exhibited stronger resilience throughout the weekdays.
Awarapan 2 follows the story of Shivam Pandit, played by Emraan Hashmi, who seeks redemption while assisting Interpol in rescuing children from a trafficking ring in Bangkok. Batwara 1947 focuses on a Muslim refugee family during the turbulent 1947 Partition of India, exploring themes of humanity amidst the chaos.
Despite the ambitious narratives and star-studded casts, Awarapan 2's measurable success starkly contrasts with the struggles faced by Batwara 1947 at the box office. As audiences reflect on both stories, the ongoing competition illustrates the fluctuating dynamics of film revenues in the industry.
