Anmol Bishnoi Detained for 11 Days by NIA Following Deportation
Anmol Bishnoi, a notorious gangster, has been placed in the custody of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for a period of 11 days. This development follows his recent deportation from the United States to India. Anmol Bishnoi is implicated in the murder of former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique and faces up to 22 criminal cases in Rajasthan.
Upon his arrival in India earlier today, Anmol was escorted to the Patiala House Court, where security was heightened, including the deployment of the Rapid Action Force. The NIA had initially requested a 15-day custody for interrogation; however, the court granted them 11 days to further their investigation.
In a statement following his arrest, the NIA outlined Anmol Bishnoi's connections to various terrorist activities. The agency noted that he had orchestrated these acts from abroad, specifically while residing in the US.
The NIA indicated that Anmol was chargesheeted in March 2023 after evidence revealed his substantial involvement in supporting known terrorists, including Goldy Brar and his brother Lawrence Bishnoi, in planning and executing acts of terrorism in India between 2020 and 2023.
Anmol Bishnoi hails from Fazilka district in Punjab and had been evading capture since 2022. His escape route included travelling through Nepal and several other countries before arriving in the United States. According to the NIA, he maintained close coordination with his brother, Lawrence Bishnoi, and fellow gangster Goldy Brar.
The agency's statement elaborated on Anmol's activities, stating, "Operating closely with various Bishnoi gang associates, Anmol continued to run terror syndicates and execute terrorist acts from the US for the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, using its operatives on the ground."
This arrest marks the 19th apprehension linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi-led terror syndicate, highlighting ongoing efforts by Indian authorities to dismantle criminal networks operating across borders.
