External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar, who visited Oman on February 16, 2025, to participate in the 8th Indian Ocean Conference, held talks with his Omani counterpart, Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi, on the full spectrum of bilateral relations.

Their discussions centred around trade and investment, in addition to the imperative of energy security. The two ministers also released a logo to commemorate the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between India and Oman.

Held wide - ranging discussions on our cooperation in trade, investment and energy security. 

So glad we could jointly release the logo celebrating the 70th anniversary of our diplomatic relations. Also jointly released a book ‘Mandvi to Muscat: Indian Community and the Shared History of India and Oman’,” he wrote on social media platform X.

EAM Jaishankar Meets Counterparts From Neighbouring Nations
EAM Jaishankar also utilised the opportunity to meet his counterparts from neighbouring nations, including Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and the Maldives. Additionally, he met the foreign ministers of Iran, Mauritius, and Brunei. He shared information about these meetings through a series of posts on social media platform X.

EAM Jaishankar described his meeting with Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath as “productive”. During the interaction, he reiterated India’s commitment to Sri Lanka’s economic recovery. “A productive interaction with FM @HMVijithaHerath on sidelines of 8th Indian Ocean Conference. Took stock of our wide - ranging cooperation. Committed to the economic recovery and progress of Sri Lanka,” he said on X.

“Glad to meet with FM @Arzuranadeuba of Nepal today. Had a useful review of our bilateral cooperation. Look forward to strengthening our ties,” he said about the meeting with Nepal Foreign Minister Arzu Rana Deuba.

EAM Jaishankar’s meeting with Bhutan Foreign Minister DN Dhungyel underscored the unique and time-tested partnership between India and Bhutan. He later wrote on X, “A pleasure talking with @FMBhutan D. N. Dhungyel in Muscat today. Our discussion focused on advancing our bilateral and regional cooperation. Underlined the dynamism of our unique and time - tested partnership”.

EAM Jaishankar also met the Foreign Affairs Adviser to the Interim Government of Bangladesh, Md Touhid Hossain, on the sidelines of the 8th Indian Ocean Conference.   “Met Foreign Affairs Adviser Md. Touhid Hossain of the Interim Government of Bangladesh. Conversation was focused on our bilateral relationship, as also on BIMSTEC,” he said.

About his meeting with Maldives Foreign Minister Abdulla Khaleel, he wrote, “Pleased to catch up with FM @abkhaleel of Maldives. Exchanged views on the many facets of our cooperation”.

During his meeting with Mauritius Foreign Minister Dhananjay Ritish Ramful, which was their first, EAM Jaishankar highlighted India’s commitment to strengthen the bilateral partnership between the two nations. “A warm first meeting with FM @RitishRamful of Mauritius. Underlined our commitment to further our special bonds of friendship,” he wrote on X.

EAM Jaishankar's meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi took stock of bilateral ties as well as developments in the region. “Good to meet FM @araghchi of Iran this afternoon. Spoke about our bilateral ties and developments in the region,” he said on X. 

His interaction with Brunei’s Foreign Minister Erywan Pehin Yusof was aimed at following up on the outcomes of the visit by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in September 2024. “A warm conversation with Brunei FM Dato Erywan Pehin Yusof this morning.  Followed up on PM @narendramodi’s September 2024 Brunei visit outcomes. Appreciate his insights on the region and support for India - ASEAN partnership,” EAM Jaishankar wrote on X.
