India and Singapore celebrated the 60th anniversary of their diplomatic relations on Thursday (January 16, 2025), with a series of high-profile meetings and events that underscored their enduring partnership and shared vision for the future. The occasion was marked by the unveiling of a special commemorative logo by President Droupadi Murmu and Singapore President Tharman Shanmugaratnam during a ceremony in New Delhi.
The joint logo, featuring elements from the national flags of both countries, India’s lotus, and Singapore’s orchid, symbolises the mutual trust, shared values, and robust ties between the two nations. The milestone event also set the stage for a range of discussions on critical issues, including sustainability, digitalisation, defence, and advanced manufacturing.
President Tharman, on his first state visit to India since assuming office, was accorded a ceremonial welcome at Rashtrapati Bhavan. He met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Murmu, and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, engaging in extensive discussions aimed at deepening the bilateral Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
