CEOs from both countries commended the two governments for putting into effect revolutionary changes

Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal has highlighted the significant expansion of India-U.S. economic ties, which has been fuelled by a shared interest in advancing sustainability, emerging technologies, globally resilient supply chains, and small businesses.

Addressing the India-US CEO Forum virtually on Thursday, Goyal also emphasized how crucial such conversations are for building on this momentum.

The India-US CEO Forum was jointly chaired by Goyal and US Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo.

In her address, Raimondo thanked Goyal, the co-Chairs and CEO forum members for their participation and insightful identification of common focus areas that will further bolster the bilateral partnership between the two nations.

Senior government functionaries, including Indian Ambassador to the US Taranjit Sandhu also participated in the meeting.

Since being reestablished in December 2014 by the governments of India and the United States, the Forum has been held six times. It comprises CEOs from both countries and is co-chaired by Chairman of Tata Sons N Chandrasekaran and President and Chief Executive Officer of Lockheed Martin James Taiclet.

At the forum, CEOs from both countries commended the two governments for putting into effect revolutionary changes and initiatives designed to improve bilateral collaboration.

The CEOs presented priority areas under the guidance of the seven working groups in order to forge stronger alliances and accelerate growth across a number of crucial industries, including entrepreneurship and supporting small businesses, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, aerospace and defence, ICT and digital infrastructure, energy, water, and environment, infrastructure and manufacturing, financial services, trade, and investments.

The Forum continues to be a useful forum for discussion across important sectoral issues and for determining opportunities for deeper cooperation for the mutual benefit of both economies.

According to the official press release from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, this discussion will serve as the foundation under which specific proposals will be outlined during the sixth edition of the India-US CEO Forum, which is scheduled to take place early next year.
