USD 23.56 billion has been fixed as the target for agricultural and processed food exports in FY 22-23

India's exports of agricultural and processed food products increased by 25% during the first six months of the current financial year (April–September 2022–23) compared to the same period in FY 2021–22, according to the latest figures released by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry on Wednesday.

According to the preliminary statistics issued by the Directorate General of Commercial Intelligence and Statistics (DGCI&S), fruits & vegetables, cereals, livestock, and processed foods witnessed a spike in exports.

The total export of goods from the Agricultural and Processed Food Export Development Authority (APEDA) climbed from USD 11056 million in April to USD 13771 million in September 2022, the ministry added.

Within six months of the current fiscal year, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry's activities through APEDA have assisted the nation in reaching 58% of its overall export target for the year 2022–2023.

An export target of USD 23.56 billion has been fixed by APEDA for the agricultural and processed food products basket for 2022-23, the ministry pointed out.

In addition, the preliminary data reveals that processed fruits and vegetables had a considerable increase of 42.42% (April to September 2022), while fresh fruits saw a gain of 4% in comparison to the same months the previous year.

Similarly, processed food goods such as cereals and other similar items had a gain of 29.36% when compared to the first quarter of the previous year.

The export of meat, dairy & poultry products increased by 10.29 percent and the export of other cereals recorded a growth of 12.29 percent in six months of the current fiscal.
