More than 50,000 soldiers from several nations are taking part in the exercise

An Indian Army contingent, which comprises members of the 7/8 Gorkha Rifles, has reached Russia to take part in multilateral Exercise Vostok-2022.

Over the course of the next seven days, they will engage in joint maneuvers, including joint field training exercises, combat discussions, and firepower exercises, India's Ministry of Defence said on Thursday.

The Indian Army contingent will look forward to sharing practical aspects and put into practice the validated drills, procedures and practice amalgamation of new technology through discussions and tactical exercises, the ministry added.

Vostok-2022, a multilateral strategic and command exercise which began on Thursday, will continue till September 7, in the Eastern Military District of Russia's training facilities. Interaction and cooperation between other participating military contingents and observers are the main goals of the exercise.

Recent news reports have quoted the Russian Defense Ministry as saying that the Russian military's participation in the drills would include military command centers, personnel from the Eastern Military District, Airborne Force units, and long-range and military transport aircraft.

More than 50,000 soldiers from China, India, and numerous other nations will take part in the exercise. The participating forces will practice maintaining military security in the eastern area, according to the Russian defense ministry.

India participated in the Exercise ZAPAD 2021 exercise in Russia last year, along with 17 other nations, including China and Pakistan.
