They have decided to establish a joint next-generation centre of excellence

India’s Minister of Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Dharmendra Pradhan met with Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister for Education & Foreign Affairs of Singapore Mohamad Maliki Bin Osman on the sidelines of the G20 4th Education Working Group meeting in Bali, Indonesia on Thursday.

During the meeting, they had extensive discussions on expanding the collaboration in education and skill development between India and Singapore.

"Fruitful discussions on further strengthening India-Singapore cooperation in education and skill development with HE Dr. Mohamad Maliki Bin Osman, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office, Second Minister for Education & Foreign Affairs, Singapore," Pradhan wrote on Twitter.

In the course of the conversation, Union Pradhan expressed his appreciation for Dr. Mohammad's desire to strengthen ties with India and advance bilateral collaboration on education and skill development.

He wrote, "Appreciate HE Dr. Mohammad’s keenness to deepen engagements and boost the bilateral education and skilling cooperation with India."

Both sides decided to create a best-in-class framework for a government-to-government partnership to increase the vitality of India-Singapore educational cooperation, especially in early childhood education, skill development, trainer training, entrepreneurship, and innovation.

The two ministers also decided to establish a joint next-generation centre of excellence combining education, skills, and mapped industry (local and global brands) in order to provide kids in both nations with marketable talents and a workforce that is prepared for the future. Pradhan tweeted,

"We also agreed to set up a joint next-generation centre-of-excellence converging education, skill, mapped industry (local & global brands) to equip youth with employable skills and create a future-ready world-class workforce in both our countries," Pradhan noted on Twitter.

They also discussed institutional relationships between Indian higher education institutions and Singaporean universities; dual degrees; student mobility; joint skill certifications; skilling in frontier regions; and work permits for Indians with semi-skilled jobs in Singapore across industries.
