India and the US will continue to stand together to defend the rules-based order, the White House Press Secretary has said

Even while both nations are pursuing their own national objectives in Ukraine, the White House reiterated on Wednesday that India remains an indispensable partner for the United States.

During her daily news conference, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters, "We see … the (Indian) partners as indispensable partners. And the US-India Strategic Partnership is grounded in our shared commitment to the advancement of a free and open Indo-Pacific region."

In response to a query on whether the alliance was deteriorating in the wake of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the Press Secretary said, "You’ve heard the President say this, the rule of law and the promotion of human freedom and dignity."

She explained "We are confident in our relationship, and in the years ahead, we’ll continue to stand together to defend the rules-based order; foster greater peace, prosperity, and security for our people; advance a free and open Indo-Pacific; and together, address the challenges we face around the world."

"So we see this as a commitment, as a continued partnership," the White House Press Secretary added.

At the same time, she pointed out that the US had made its position on Ukraine quite clear. To ensure that the people are continuing to struggle for their freedom, the US has just announced a USD 3 billion increase in security support to the nation.
