A statue of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose will come up at India Gate in New Delhi to mark his birth anniversary, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on Friday.
A hologram statue of the iconic freedom fighter will be unveiled by Prime Minister Modi on January 23, his birth anniversary. This will remain at the spot till the actual granite statue is ready.
PM Modi took to Twitter to announce the move.
"At a time when the entire nation is marking the 125th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, I am glad to share that his grand statue, made of granite, will be installed at India Gate. This would be a symbol of India’s indebtedness to him," PM Modi said on Twitter.
"Till the grand statue of Netaji Bose is completed, a hologram statue of his would be present at the same place. I will unveil the hologram statue on 23rd January, Netaji’s birth anniversary," he said in another tweet.
The Modi government had earlier announced that Netaji's birth anniversary will be observed as 'Parakram Diwas'.
According to this decision, from now on, Republic Day celebrations will begin with Netaji's birth anniversary on January 23 and conclude on January 30.
