It had earlier announced that scheduled international flights would resume operations from December 15

India’s aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has postponed the resumption of international flights in the country.

On Wednesday, DGCA said it was monitoring the situation related to the new Corona virus variants of concern, and would notify the date of full resumption of scheduled international flights accordingly.

“In view of the evolving global scenario with the emergence of new Variants of Concern, the situation is being watched closely in consultation with all stakeholders and an appropriate decision indicating the effective date of resumption of scheduled commercial international passenger services shall be notified in due course,” DGCA said in a circular.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) had earlier announced that scheduled international flights would resume operations from December 15.

Meanwhile, India recorded 8,954 new cases in the last 24 hours, up from 6,990 the previous day.

The recovery of 10,207 patients in the last 24 hours has increased the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) to 3,40,28,506. Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.36%.

The country’s active caseload stands at 99,023.

Active cases constitute 0.29% of the country's total Positive Cases, which is the lowest since March 2020.The Active Caseload is at 1,58,817, which is the lowest in 248 days.

As per provisional reports till 7 am on Wednesday, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage had crossed 124.10 crore (1,24,10,86,850) doses.
