This is the second time in five days that over 10 million Covid-19 vaccine doses have been administered

India saw a record single-day high of more than 1.04 crore or 10.4.million (1,04,42,184) Covid-19 vaccine doses being administered on Tuesday, as per the provisional report at 7 pm.

The daily vaccination number is expected to increase with the compilation of the final reports for the day by late tonight, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said.

This comes just five days after India witnessed the first day of administration of 1 crore (10.million) vaccine doses.

Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya lauded the entire country for the achievement of more than 1 crore (10 million) doses for the second day within a span of five days.

As per the provisional 7 pm data, this includes 76,88,889 first doses and 27,53,295 second doses of the Covid-19 vaccine.

With this, India’s Covid-19 vaccination coverage has crossed the 65 crore (650 million) mark. The total number of vaccination doses administered so far now stands at 65,12,14,767.

The past few weeks have seen a significant increase in daily Covid-19 vaccine doses administered.

Well over half of India's eligible (18 years+) population has now received at least the first dose of the vaccine. The figure now stands at 50,09,03,929.

The Union Health Minister took to Twitter to applaud the hard work of COVID warriors & the diligence of citizens in helping achieve the momentous feat of more than 50 crore (500 million) cumulative administrations of the 1st dose of the vaccine.

The total number of beneficiaries who have received the second dose of the vaccine is now at 15,03,10,838.

The vaccination exercise as a tool to protect the most vulnerable population groups in the country from COVID-19 continues to be regularly reviewed and monitored at the highest level, the health ministry said.
