India has surpassed the US in the total number of Covid-19 vaccine doses administered

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that "vaccines for all, free for all" remains the government's commitment noting that India's Covid vaccination drive "keeps gaining" momentum.

The Prime Minister was reacting to a tweet of the Union Health Ministry that put out an infographic saying India has achieved another milestone as the total number of jabs administered here is more than in countries like the US, the UK, Germany, France and Italy.

India has administered 323.66 million doses by 8 am on Monday. A total of 32,36,63,297 vaccine doses have been administered through 43,21,898 sessions, as per the provisional report.

The figure for the US stands at 32,33,27,328 while that for the UK,which began vacations on December 8, is 7,67,74,990, the ministry pointed out.

In the last 24 hours, 17,21,268 vaccine doses were administered.

The new phase of universalization of COVID-19 vaccination commenced from 21st June.

Meanwhile, India has reported 46,148 new cases in the last 24 hours. Less than 1 lakh Daily New Cases have been reported for 21 continuous days now. The country has also been witnessing a continuous fall in its active caseload. India’s Active Caseload stands at 5,72,994.
