There is still a fear emerging of a possible third wave of the pandemic

India has reported 51,667 new daily active Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours taking the overall tally to 30,134,445. The country continues to report a decline in active cases every day however there is still a fear emerging of a possible third wave of the pandemic.

According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the number of active cases declined to 612,868 as 64,527 people recovered from the Covid-19. The country has reported 2,91,28,267 Total Recoveries so far. The Recovery Rate has increased to 96.66%.

“Daily recoveries continue to outnumber the Daily New Cases for the 43rd consecutive day,” the Health ministry said in a statement.

Meanwhile, the cumulative Covid-19 vaccination coverage reached above 300 million, as per a provisional report till 7pm on Thursday, the Union Health Ministry said.

According to the report, the total count was 30,72,46,600. More than 6 million vaccine doses were administered on Thursday till 11:59pm, the Health Ministry informed.

According to the Health Ministry, the weekly Positivity Rate remains below 5%, currently at 3.00%. The Daily positivity rate stands at 2.98%, less than 5% for 18 consecutive days.

The Health Ministry informed that the testing capacity has been substantially ramped up with 39.95 crore tests total conducted in the country.

After battling the second wave of Covid-19 for two months, the country is facing new concerns regarding the possible third wave and the latest mutation of the virus, Delta Plus. So far, the country has at least 40 cases with the maximum being reported from Maharashtra and is followed by Madhya Pradesh and Kerala.
