More than 20 lakh vaccination doses were administered in the last 24 hours

The cumulative number of Covid-19 vaccine doses administered in India is now close to 18 crore (180 million).

According to Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare data, 17,92,98,584 (17.93 crore or 179.3 million) vaccine doses have been administered through 26,02,435 sessions, as per the provisional report till 7 am on Friday.

These include 96,18,127 HealthCare Workers or HCWs who have taken the 1st dose and 66,04,549 HCWs who have taken the 2nd dose, 1,43,22,390 FrontLine Workers or FLWs (1st dose) and 81,16,153 FLWs (2nd dose).

There are 39,26,334 beneficiaries under the 18-45 age group (1st dose) in addition to 5,66,09,783 (1st dose) and 85,39,763 (2nd dose) beneficiaries aged 45 to 60 years.

The number of beneficiaries above 60 years old includes 5,42,42,792 1st dose beneficiaries and 1,73,18,693 2nd dose beneficiaries.

More than 20 lakh vaccination doses were administered in the last 24 hours.

On Day-118 of the vaccination drive (Thursday May 13), 20,27,162 vaccine doses were given. Across 18,624 sessions, 10,34,304 beneficiaries were vaccinated for 1st dose and 9,92,858 beneficiaries received their 2nd dose of vaccine.

When it comes to the age group 18-44 years, 4,40,706 beneficiaries received their first dose of COVID vaccine in the last 24 hours.

Cumulatively, the number for the 18-44 years age group now stands at 39,26,334 across 32 states and UTs since the start of phase-3 of vaccination drive on May 1.

India is the fastest country globally to reach the 17 crore vaccine doses target in 114 days. The USA took 115 days and China took 119 days to administer the same number of doses.
