The number of recoveries surpassed the new reported cases for the 37th day in a row

India has been able to keep the number of new reported cases of COVID-19 under 50,000 for the second consecutive day today. Amid this, the average of daily new recoveries continues to surpass daily reported cases for the over five weeks. Delhi happens to be the single highest contributor of cases now.

India reported a total number of 45,903 cases in the past 24 hours, less than 50,000 for the second consecutive day. On November 08, India reported 45,674 cases in a single day, the data released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

On the other hand, the recoveries surpassed the new reported cases for the 37th day in a row. India reported around 48,405 recoveries in the past 24 hours taking the total number of recoveries to 79,17,373. The recovery rate also increased to 92.56 per cent.

“New daily cases continue to trend downwards with the success of Jan-Andolan promoting COVID appropriate behaviour,” the ministry said in a statement.

Of the new recovered cases, the maximum number of recoveries were reported from Maharashtra with 8,232 recoveries in the past 24 hours followed by 6,853 of Kerala and 6,069 of Delhi.

West Bengal also reported a total of 4,383 recoveries in the past 24 hours. Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh also reported over 2,000 recoveries each.

Similarly, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan also reported close to 2,000 recoveries each.

With this, the active cases in the country declined to 5,09,673 which account to be 5.95 per cent of the total positive cases.

“India’s Cumulative Positivity Rate has also declined as new cases decline but focus on testing remains a prime commitment of the Centre and the State/UT governments. India’s Cumulative Positivity Rate has dropped to 7.19% today,” the statement said.

India, on the other hand, reported a total of 45,903 cases and 490 deaths in the past 24 hours. National Capital Delhi reported the highest number of cases at 7,745. Around 77 deaths were also reported in Delhi.

Maharashtra also reported 5,585 cases and 125 deaths followed by 5,440 cases and 24 deaths of Kerala. West Bengal also reported a total of 3,920 cases and 59 deaths in the past 24 hours.

India has reported a total of 85,53,657 cases including 1,26,611 deaths.
