India continued to report less cases and more recoveries from COVID-19 in the past 24 hours taking the recovery rate to an all-time high of 87.05 per cent keeping the active cases of COVID-19 below 9 lakhs.

According to the data released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, around 74,632 patients recovered in the past 24 hours taking the total recovered cases to 63,01,927. It took the recovery rate to an all-time high of 87.05 per cent.

“Higher testing across wide regions leads to early identification of positive cases, prompt tracking through efficient surveillance and tracing, and timely & effective treatment in homes/facilities and in hospitals for the severe cases. These measures in tandem eventually lead to lower mortality rate,” the ministry said in a statement.

Of the new recovered cases, the highest were recorded in Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and Delhi.

Maharashtra reported 15,356 recoveries while Karnataka reported 10,421 recoveries followed by 7,723 of Kerala. Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu reported over 5,000 recoveries each while Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal reported over 3,000 recoveries each.

Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and Delhi each reported over 2,000 recoveries each in the past 24 hours. With this, active cases in the country stand at 8,26,876.

The country also surpassed 9 crore total tests with 11,45,015 tests in the past 24 hours.

“The country’s testing capacities have multiplied manifold with more than 1900 labs across the country and with collaborative efforts of the Centre and State/UT governments. More than 15 lakh samples can be tested every day,” the ministry said.

India reported 63,509 new cases and 730 deaths in the past 24 hours. Maximum number of cases were reported from Kerala, Maharashtra and Karnataka which contributed over 8,000 cases each. The date rate in Maharashtra continued to be high as 187 people lost their lives while 87 people lost their lives in Karnataka and 21 people lost their lives in Kerala in the past 24 hours.

It was followed by Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh which reported over 4,000 cases each in the past 24 hours. Around 57 people lost their lives in Tamil Nadu while 35 people lost their lives in Andhra Pradesh in the past 24 hours.

With this, India has reported 72,39,389 cases out of which 1,10,586 people have lost their lives.
