Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed Indian media for its Covid-19 coverage and said that the country’s media should go global

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said that not only Indian products but Indian media also needs to go global. He lauded the Indian media for serving people in an unprecedented way during the times of Covid-19 by spreading awareness.

“World listens to India more carefully now. In such a situation, Indian media also needs to go global,” PM Modi was quoted as saying in a Times of India report.

While inaugurating “Patrika Gate” in Jaipur via video conferencing, Modi said that Indian newspapers and magazines have a global reputation and Indian institutions should also give literary awards as they are given in different parts of the world, the report quoted him as saying.

Although the media is criticized in the age of social media yet everyone must learn from the criticism, he said, reiterating that this is what makes democracy strong, according to the report.

The Prime Minister also lauded the Indian media for its role in shaping the Aatmnirbhar Bharat mission. The Times of India report quoted him as appreciating the role of Indian media in spreading awareness about the center’s schemes such as Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and the Ujjwala Yojana.
