The programme will also focus on promoting local entrepreneurship and creating partnerships with industrial associations

The Atmanirbhar Uttar Pradesh Rojgar Abhiyan, a programme that will provide employment to nearly 1.25 crore migrant workers and other people who have lost their jobs, was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday.

The campaign is intended to provide employment to those who have been rendered jobless due to the coronavirus pandemic. It will cover 31 districts of Uttar Pradesh.

It will be undertaken as part of the Garib Kalyan Rojgar Abhiyan that the Prime Minister started on June 20 for 116 districts in six states in the country, according to a Hindustan Times report.

The Atmanirbhar UP Rojgar Abhiyan is focused on providing jobs, promoting local entrepreneurship and creating partnerships with industrial associations and other organisations to create employment opportunities, the report quoted senior officials as saying.

The programme was launched virtually by the Prime Minister. UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also attended the event virtually.
