Under the 'Vande Bharat Mission,' India has so far brought back over 65000 Indians from different corners of the world



Under ‘Operation Samudra Setu’, the Indian Navy has repatriated 2874 Indian nationals from the Maldives and Sri Lanka during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

On June 7, INS Jalashwa carrying 700 Indian nationals on board from Male reached Tuticorin in Tamil Nadu. This was the third trip of INS Jalashwa to the Maldives.

According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Defence, the embarkation of Indian nationals was facilitated by the Indian Mission in Maldives.

Personnel were embarked onboard after carrying out requisite medical screening. COVID related safety protocols were also strictly adhered to during the sea-passage.

The evacuees were received by local authorities at Tuticorin and arrangements were in place for speedy disembarkation, health screening, immigration and transportation of the evacuees.
