The Delhi Chief Minister has been unwell since Sunday afternoon

While Delhi is battling with a surge in Covid-19 cases, news about Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal going into self-quarantine after he complained of mild fever and a sore throat, has created widespread concern in the national capital.

As per leaders of the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), the Delhi Chief Minister has been unwell since Sunday afternoon and has not held any meeting since then.

“Arvind Kejriwal is running a fever and has a sore throat, which happen to be Covid-19 symptoms. So doctors have advised him to take a test tomorrow,” AAP MLA Raghav Chadha was quoted by NDTV as saying.

Calling him a frontline warrior against coronavirus, Raghav Chadha in his tweet wrote, “You put yourself at risk for the wellbeing of people of Delhi. As you face a health challenge, our thoughts, wishes and prayers are with you.”

The Delhi Chief Minister is diabetic and this is what has exacerbated public concern about his health. “We are all worried, but Kejriwal is a fighter,” the AAP MLA said.

On the other hand, senior AAP leader and Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Singh said the administrative work of the Delhi government will not suffer during the time Arvind Kejriwal will remain in self-isolation.

Meanwhile several political leaders cutting across party lines have wished early recovery of the Delhi Chief Minister.

“On hearing about Arvind Kejriwal feeling unwell, I spoke to him and asked about his well-being. I pray to god for his speedy recovery,” Delhi’s newly elected BJP president Adesh Kumar Gupta said in his tweet.

Taking a dig at the Delhi Chief Minister, Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera in his tweet said: “I pray that you test negative. But just in case you need treatment, I hope#Kaushambi has good hospitals. Get well soon @ArvindKejriwal.”
