Delegation of the All-J&K Panchayat Conference, headed by Anil Sharma, presented its demands for the welfare of districts and Panches to LG GC Murmu

Several delegations, including the All J&K Panchayat Conference, Forum for Peace and Territorial Integrity J&K, Jammu and All J&K Shri Guru Ravi Dass Sabha, called on the Lieutenant Governor, Girish Chandra Murmu, at the Raj Bhawan yesterday and forwarded their demands to him. A delegation of the All-J&K Panchayat Conference, headed by its president Anil Sharma comprising Amjid Hussain Khatana, Raja Singh, Des Raj Bhagat and Rohit Sharma, presented their demands to the Lieutenant-Governor relating to the implementation of the 73rd Constitutional Amendment, District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) elections and welfare of sarpanches and Panches etc.

Interacting with members of the delegation, the Lieutenant-Governor reiterated the government’s commitment to implementing the 73rd Constitutional Amendment for the complete empowerment of Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs).

A delegation of the Forum for Peace and Territorial Integrity J&K, Jammu, led by former Member of Parliament, Sheikh Abdul Rehman, submitted a memorandum of demands pertaining to early Assembly elections, constitution of Regional and Hill Development Councils and other issues of public importance. A delegation of the All J&K Shri Guru Ravi Dass Sabha, headed by its president, Piran Ditta, apprised the L-G of their problems.

The LG listened to the issues and demands put forth by the members of the delegations and assured them to take up their genuine issues for examination and early redress. He observed that the present dispensation was taking outcome-based measures to fulfil the aspirations of the people of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
