India and Italy enjoy multifaceted bilateral cooperation
India and Italy have agreed to explore the potential for collaboration in sectors like agri-tech, space, and the digital domain. These new areas of bilateral cooperation were discussed during a meeting between External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani in Rome on Thursday (November 2, 2023).

After the meeting, the two sides also signed the Mobility and Migration Partnership Agreement and the Cultural Exchange Program.

"A comprehensive and productive meeting this evening with DPM & FM @Antonio_Tajani.

Conversed about deepening our strategic partnership. Agreed that potential in agro-tech, innovation, space, defence and the digital domain should be explored.

Spoke about the West Asia situation, Ukraine conflict and the Indo-Pacific landscape in detail.

Appreciated Italy’s support for our initiatives and also for the G20 Presidency.

Signed the Mobility and Migration Partnership Agreement and the Cultural Exchange Program at the end of our talks," EAM Jaishankar wrote on social media platform X.

He also had the opportunity to discuss the experiences of the Make in India initiative with Italian Minister of Enterprise Adilf Urso, who is in charge of Make in Italy.

"An insightful conversation this morning with the Minister of Enterprise @adolfo_urso. Exchanged the experiences of Made in Italy and Made in India. Confident that our discussion today will expand the scope of our economic partnership," EAM Jaishankar wrote on X.

While in Rome, EAM S Jaishankar also met Italian Defence Minister Guido Crosetto and discussed ways to take forward the defence and security partnership between the two nations.

"Pleased to meet Defence minister @GuidoCrosetto today.

Agenda focused on taking forward our renewed defence and security partnership. Appreciated his assessments and valued his suggestions for defence industry cooperation," he wrote on X.
Earlier, EAM Jaishankar began his visit with a Senate interaction on the deepening India-Italy partnership.

"Began the Italy visit with a Senate interaction on our deepening partnership. Thank Sen. Giulio Terzi & Sen. Roberto Menia for co-chairing. Appreciated the warm sentiments for India across party lines," he wrote on X.

He also had a productive interaction with leading think tanks of Italy where the topics of discussion ranged from the G20 and the Global South to the changing global order.
