In a move aimed at taking Digital Skilling to the grassroots, India's central government has launched a partnership with Meta to provide digital marketing skills to entrepreneurs.

The three-year partnership, 'Education to Entrepreneurship: Empowering a generation of students, educators and entrepreneurs' was formalised between the Ministry of Education, Ministry Skill Development & Entrepreneurship and Meta in New Delhi on Monday (September 4, 2023).

Three Letters of Intent (LoI) were exchanged between Meta and NIESBUD, AICTE and CBSE in this regard, the Ministry of Education, Ministry Skill Development & Entrepreneurship said.

Under the partnership with NIESBUD, 5 lakh entrepreneurs will get access to digital marketing skills by Meta over the next three years. Budding and existing entrepreneurs will be trained in digital marketing skills using Meta platforms in seven regional languages to begin with.

According to Union Minister for Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Dharmendra Pradhan, the Education to Entrepreneurship’ partnership is a game-changer, which will take Digital Skilling to the grassroots. 

This will build capacities of India's talent pool and seamlessly connect students, youth, workforce as well as micro-entrepreneurs with futuristic technologies and transform them into new-age problem solvers and entrepreneurs, he explained. 

Guided by the tenets of the National Education Policy (NEP), Meta's partnerships with NIESBUD, CBSE & AICTE will catalyse infinite possibilities for equipping our population with critical digital skills and empowering micro entrepreneurs and small businesses, he added.
