In recent years, the Indian Air Force has reaffirmed its commitment to international cooperation
Chief of Hellenic Air Force General Staff Lt Gen Themistoklis Bourolias, met with Indian Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari, in New Delhi on June 12, 2023. The meeting, which took place amidst the backdrop of growing cooperation between the Air Forces of India and Greece, was a testament to the growing ties between the two nations.

The Indian Air Force tweeted about the meeting on June 12, 2023, stating, “Bilateral issues of mutual interest and defence cooperation were discussed between the two Chiefs”.

The rendezvous between the two Chiefs comes on the heels of the Indian Air Force's participation in Exercise INIOCHOS-23, a multi-national air exercise hosted by the Hellenic Air Force. The exercise, which took place at the Andravida Air Base in Greece from April 24 to May 4, 2023, saw the Indian Air Force participating with four Su-30 MKI and two C-17 aircraft, showcasing their prowess in both air combat and strategic airlift capabilities.

Exercise INIOCHOS-23 brought together air forces from several nations to collaborate and enhance their operational capabilities. The exercise featured a diverse range of air and surface assets, simulating realistic combat scenarios to test the participating forces' skills and readiness

It aimed to foster international cooperation, synergy, and interoperability among the participating Air Forces, providing a platform for them to engage in professional interactions and learn from each other's best practices.

During the exercise, the participating forces were exposed to various challenges, including air-to-air and air-to-ground combat missions, aerial refuelling, and joint operations with ground forces. These scenarios allowed the Air Forces to assess their tactics, techniques, operational readiness, and procedures, as well as identify areas for improvement and collaboration.

Beyond its partnership with the Hellenic Air Force, the Indian Air Force's participation in Exercise INIOCHOS-23 demonstrated its dedication to fostering strategic relationships, cooperation, synergy, and shared security objectives on the global stage with air forces around the world.

By engaging in joint exercises and collaborative training with international partners, the Indian Air Force is strengthening global security frameworks and enhancing its ability to operate cohesively with allies whenever and wherever required.

The growing cooperation between the Air Forces of India and Greece, as evidenced by the meeting between Lt Gen Themistoklis Bourolias and Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari and the Indian Air Force's participation in Exercise INIOCHOS-23, underscores the significance of international partnerships in today's era of globalization.
