Both countries celebrate 75 years of diplomatic relations in 2023

India and Romania exchanged views on a wide range of bilateral and global issues including the Ukraine conflict during the 4th Foreign Office Consultations held in New Delhi on Monday.

"As both countries celebrate 75 years of diplomatic relations in 2023, the consultations provided an opportunity to review bilateral engagements and exchange views on regional and international issues of mutual interest," the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said.

The consultations covered the entire gamut of bilateral relations, including political, economic, commercial, consular, and cultural linkages.

India and Romania also exchanged views on regional and global issues, including developments in the Indo-Pacific, QUAD, India’s neighbourhood, EU, Ukraine conflict, cooperation in multilateral fora including the UN, UNSC reform and India’s G20 Presidency.

The Indian side was led by Joint Secretary (Central Europe), Ministry of External Affairs, Arun Kumar Sahu The Romanian side was led by General Director for Global Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania.Olivia Toderean.

Both sides agreed to hold the next round of Foreign Office Consultations at mutually convenient dates in Bucharest.
