The objective was to explore ways to enhance the ties between India, the USA, and Israel

India's Minister of External Affairs S Jaishankar met with the American Jewish Committee delegation and members of the Indian diaspora on Wednesday to explore ways to expand India's ties with the US and Israel.

Taking to Twitter, EAM Jaishankar wrote, "Glad to meet a delegation of American Jewish Committee and the Indian Diaspora in South Block today morning. Discussed strengthening India’s relationship with the US and Israel. Appreciated their suggestions on promoting community based activities."

The American Jewish Committee (AJC) is the foremost Jewish advocacy group on a global scale that strives to influence policy and opinion on some of the most significant issues affecting the Jewish people from all over the world.

On the other hand, the Indian diaspora in countries like the USA has become one of the most influential groups of foreign communities and has had a significant influence on both politics and the economy. It now serves as an instrument and agent of India's soft power, and it has a significant influence on the dynamics of industrialized nations.

It is widely acknowledged that the diaspora can promote Indian soft power and advocate for India's national interests, just as the AJC does for Israel and the Jewish community.

The Jewish diaspora in India is nonetheless distinct from other Jewish communities because, like other groups, it coexisted peacefully in India for hundreds of years while retaining its Jewish identity. That is why the meeting between EAM Jaishankar and AJC is so significant for India, Israel, and the United States.
