Prime Minister Modi emphasised the significance of unity in the battle against climate change

Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled Mission LiFE at the Statue of Unity in Ekta Nagar, Gujarat in the presence of UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Thursday.

The Prime Minister and the UN Secretary-General also paid floral tributes at the Statue of Unity.

The leaders of 11 countries representing all of the United Nations' regions offered congratulatory video greetings on the opening of Mission LiFE.

Speaking to the gathering, the Prime Minister said that Secretary-General Guterres views "India as a second home" and that he frequently visited the country when he was younger. He also emphasised Guterres' ancestral ties to the Indian state of Goa and praised him for choosing to go to India.

Furthermore, he thanked the heads of all countries for their wishes on the occasion and expressed his joy at the support that has been given to India for embracing the Mission LiFE program.

Introducing Mission LiFE in front of the Statue of Unity, a massive statue of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel, the pride of India, Prime Minister Modi emphasised the significance of unity in the battle against climate change.

"The world’s largest statue will be a source of inspiration in achieving the set targets," he added.

He made the observation on Mission LiFE, saying that it transforms each of us into "trustees of the environment." It unites the world's population as "pro-planet people," he continued.

Adding how India has developed into a shining example of how development and ecology can coexist, he remarked that the "circular economy" and "reduce, reuse, and recycle" have been a part of Indian culture for thousands of years.

He continued by saying that anytime India and the UN collaborated, innovative approaches to improving the globe were developed.
