The delegates include journalists, sportsmen, physicians, artists, and engineers

A 100-member youth delegation team from Bangladesh arrived in India on an eight-day visit on Wednesday.

Welcoming the delegation under the bilateral Youth Exchange Programme, India's Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports tweeted that the programme aims to promote exchange of ideas, values & culture among the youth of the partnering nations and also to develop international perspective among them.

In their week long visit, they will be interacting with key personalities and institutions in India, ranging from the government, educational, business and science & technology fields. The delegation will also be visiting sites of historical and cultural significance in India, the Indian High Commission in Bangladesh said.

"The travel itinerary has been specifically designed to provide an opportunity for the delegates to experience the rich and diverse heritage of India," said the High Commission.

The Indian High Commission conducted a flag-off ceremony for the team. The event was attended by Bangladeshi Minister and Member of Parliament for the Ministry of Roads, Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader, Deputy High Commissioner of India Vinay George, and film actor and television personality Arifin Shubo.

The Bangladesh Youth Delegation Program was started in 2012.

"This year marks the eighth edition of the Bangladesh Youth Delegations’ visit to India and this is the first time that auditions for selecting delegates took place outside Dhaka in cities like Rajshahi and Chattogram," the Indian High Commission said.

This year's Bangladesh Youth Delegation includes members from all throughout Bangladesh and includes a variety of individuals from various backgrounds. These delegates include, among others, journalists, sportsmen, physicians, artists, and engineers.
