The Finance Minister will meet World Bank President David Malpass and US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will attend the Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank as well as the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governor (FMCBG) Meetings during an official visit to the United States beginning on Tuesday.

Announcing her visit on Monday, the Ministry of Finance said Sitharaman will participate in bilateral discussions with a number of nations, including Japan, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Australia, Bhutan, New Zealand, Egypt, Germany, Mauritius, UAE, Iran, and the Netherlands.

Additionally, she will have one-on-one talks with the presidents of the OECD, European Commission, and UNDP.

In a high-level discussion, the Finance Minister will separately meet with World Bank President David Malpass and US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen to address issues of common interest. She will also speak at the Washington DC-based non-profit Brookings Institution on "India's Economic Prospects and Role in the World Economy."

Later on, she will speak at the School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), John Hopkins University, about the multiplier impact "technology, finance, and governance" have on India.

During the later part of her six-day visit, she will participate in roundtable discussions with USIBC and USISPF on the topics of "Investing in India's Digital Revolution" and "Strengthen Investment and Innovation in India-US Corridor."

According to the Finance Ministry's official statement, these gatherings would feature top corporate executives and investors and serve to highlight India's appeal as a location for investments.
