The Indian Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir has borne the brunt of a terrorist campaign for decades,MEA said

India on Saturday called out nations that "do not recognise the dangers of cross-border terrorism because of self-interest or indifference," saying they did grave injustice to the victims of terrorism.

This followed a remark on Kashmir during a joint press conference by the Foreign Ministers of Germany and Pakistan.

"All serious and conscientious members of the global community have a role and responsibility to call out international terrorism, especially of a cross-border nature," Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said.

He was responding to media queries after Pakistan Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari raised Kashmir and alleged human rights violations during a joint press conference with his German counterpart Annalena Baerbock.

Slamming the comments made by Zardari, Bagchi highlighted how the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir has suffered until now because of Pakistani-sponsored terrorism.

"The Indian Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir has borne the brunt of such a terrorist campaign for decades. This continues till now. Foreign nationals have been victims there, as also in other parts of India. The UN Security Council and FATF are still pursuing Pakistan-based terrorists involved in the horrific 26/11 attacks," the MEA Spokesperson pointed out.

He went on to say, "When states do not recognise such dangers, either because of self-interest or indifference, they undermine the cause of peace, not promote it. They also do grave injustice to the victims of terrorism."
