India's President Droupadi Murmu met the newly ascended King Charles III at a reception hosted at Buckingham Palace on the Sunday before Queen Elizabeth's formal funeral.

The official Twitter account of Rashtrapati Bhavan tweeted, "President Droupadi Murmu at the reception hosted by King Charles III of the United Kingdom at Buckingham Palace."

She also signed Queen Elizabeth II's condolence book at Lancaster House, near Buckingham Palace in London. In addition, the president also paid respects to the late monarch on behalf of the Indian people and herself in Westminster Hall in London, where Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II's body is lying in state.

Before the commencement of the state funeral in London, President Droupadi Murmu met with Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina and her sister, Sheikh Rehana.

President Murmu and her entourage, which included Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra, had earlier arrived at London's Gatwick Airport. On her arrival, she was greeted by the Indian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom.

At Westminster Abbey's West Gate, she will attend the state funeral service on Monday. Later, she will also attend James Cleverly's reception in the afternoon, which is hosted by the UK's secretary of state for international, regional, and development affairs.
