The International Solar Alliance (ISA) focuses on taking concrete action to expand the use of solar energy technology

The United States has approved the International Solar Alliance Agreement, marking a significant development for the group of 121 member nations that are renowned for being the nations with the most sunlight.

Charge D'Affaires of the US Embassy in India Patricia Lacina handed over the ratified Instrument of Acceptance to senior officials of the Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi.

Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi also tweeted about this significant step. In a tweet, he wrote, "USA ratifies the International Solar Alliance Agreement. The Instrument of Acceptance was handed over by @USAndIndia CDA Patricia Lacina during her meeting with AS(ER) Prabhat Kumar and JS (ED) Noor Rahman Sheikh."

The International Solar Alliance (ISA) is a collaborative platform that focuses on taking concrete action to expand the use of solar energy technology. Its main objectives are to promote energy transition, secure energy access, and ensure energy security in its member countries.

In 2015, India and France came up with the idea of the ISA as a way to coordinate efforts to combat climate change via the use of solar energy technologies. One of the significant milestones of ISA is "One Sun One World One Grid" (OSOWOG).

The ISA Framework Agreement has been ratified by 106 nations in total. 86 countries have approved and signed the ISA Framework Agreement, out of a total of 106. It is possible to join the ISA from any United Nations member state.
