The document highlights what India needs to prioritise in the journey towards its centennial year

The Economic Advisory Council to Prime Minister (EAC-PM) is all set to release the Competitiveness Roadmap for India@100 to guide the way to become a higher-income country by 2047, which will mark 100 years of Independence.

According to the EAC-PM, the roadmap proposes policy goals, principles and approaches to further drive India’s economy in the direction of sustainability and resilience, embedded in social progress and shared prosperity.

The roadmap is a collaborative edndevour between EAC-PM, The Institute for Competitiveness headed by Dr Amit Kapoor, and Professor Michael E Porter and Dr Christian Ketels from Harvard Business School. It is based on the framework developed by Professor Porter.

The Competitiveness Roadmap for India@100 will be released on August 30 in the presence of Chairman EAC-PM Bibek Debroy, G-20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant, Member EAC-PM Sanjeev Sanyal, Dr Kapoor, Prof Porter and Dr Ketels.

It is worth mentioning that while addressing the nation from the ramparts of New Delhi's Red Fort to mark the 76th Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had given a clarion call to make India a developed nation in the next 25 years.

"As we wake up to this auspicious morning of 76th Independence Day, we must resolve to make India a developed nation in the next 25 years," PM Modi had asserted.

The Competitiveness Roadmap for India@100 presents an integrated agenda of prioritised initiatives based on a thorough examination of India’s present economic state and competitive advantages. Building on the many reforms the government has enacted over recent years, it addresses both what actions India needs to prioritize now and how it needs to organize itself to deliver these actions effectively, the EAC-PM said in an official press release issued on Thursday.

The document also asserts that the competitiveness approach should serve as the cornerstone of India’s economic and social policy to drive India’s growth further and sustain it over the long term.
