The government has released the 4th advance estimates for 2021–22 of major agriculture crops

India is estimated to have produced a record 315.72 million tonnes of foodgrains this financial year, up 4.98 million tonnes from the production of foodgrains in the previous two years, 2020–21.

The figures were announced in the fourth advance estimates of production of major agricultural crops for 2021–22, released by the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare on Wednesday.

According to this data, the average output of foodgrains during the past five years (2016–2017 to 2020–21) increased by 25 million tonnes in 2021–22. The output of rice, maize, gramme, pulses, rapeseed, mustard, oilseeds, and sugarcane is estimated to reach record levels.

According to Minister of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare Narendra Singh Tomar, the Central Government's farmer-friendly policies, together with the relentless efforts of the farmers and the devotion of the scientists, are to thank for this record-breaking output of so many crops.

The expected output of the following key crops for the years 2021–2022, according to the 4th Advance Estimates, is:

* Foodgrains - 315.72 million tonnes
* Rice - 130.29 million tonnes (a record)
* Wheat- 106.84 million tonnes
* Nutri / Coarse Cereals- 50.90 million tonnes
* Maize- 33.62 million tonnes (a record)
* Pulses- 27.69 million tonnes (a record)
* Tur- 4.34 million tonnes
* Gram- 13.75 million tonnes (a record)
* Oilseeds- 37.70 million tonnes (a record)
* Groundnut- 10.11 million tonnes
* Soyabean- 12.99 million tonnes
* Rapeseed and Mustard- 11.75 million tonnes (a record)
* Sugarcane- 431.81 million tonnes (a record)
* Cotton- 31.20 million bales (each of 170 kg)
* Jute & Mesta- 10.32 million bales (each of 180 kg)

The evaluation of the production of various crops is based on data obtained from the states and verified with data from other sources.
